I recently got a new automatic dialer for my telephone. It
worked by programming in a 3 number code to indicate who you
wanted to call. To make things easy to remember I decided
to use three letter codes to represent someone and then convert
those codes to the matching numbers on the touch tone dial.
For example for my brother I used "BRO" which became 276, and
to call my sister - "SIS" became 747.
Then I went to program "MOM".....
It explained a lot!
