Not Quayle's Fault

jbowyer@cis.vutbr.cs (Bowyer Jeff)
(topical, smirk)

Lisa Schiffren, Dan Quayle's speechwriter, appeared as a guest on the
January 18, 1993 airing of CNN's Crosspoint show. Based on her
performance, we should extend a little sympathy to Quayle during these
waning days of the Bush administration, for perhaps the many gaffs he
made should be attributed to Ms. Schiffren.

Ms. Schiffren blasted President-elect Clinton's recent suggestion
that the U.S. normalize relations with Iraq, saying Clinton
should think twice before he "extends a fig leaf [sic] to Saddam
    Hussein."

Sure adds new meaning to the insult: I wouldn't touch Saddam Hussein
with a ten-foot pole.
