As a means of introducing first-day kindergardeners to their schools, some
teachers play the gingerbread game. They tell the students that there was a
tray of gingerbread men for the class, but that the little guys got up and
ran away. The teacher takes the class around the school to look for the
gingerbread men, and during the hunt they meet the other teachers, school
nurse, cafeteria workers, etc. Finally, they wind up in the Principal's
office, where the gingerbread men are found in a cabinet and distributed to
the class.

When this happened in one local school, one little boy cautioned his
classmates: "Don't eat the feet...they've been on the floor!"
