My wife is from Michigan, and has some bizarre driving habits that she insists are common in the Midwest. She's polite, she's courteous, she lets other people proceed through intersections first and--most inexplicable of all--she drives below the speed limit!
Drives me frickin' crazy.
This past weekend we were driving along a fairly narrow country road and encountered a lady wheeling a double wide stroller. Coming from the other direction was a pickup truck. The truck actually stopped, and let the lady past.
Me: I guess the driver must be from the Midwest, huh?
Her: Yes, if he'd been from New York, he would have kept going.
Me: Yeah, and if he'd been from New Jersey, he'd've swerved to hit 'em.
