Canadian Stockwell Day, leader of the populist Canadian Alliance Party has proposed the ultimate democratic tool.
They promise to hold a referendum on any topic that 3% of the Canadian public says it wishes to have voted on. While you might think this idea is rife with potential misuse (cheaper beer, more skin on CBC) the comedy show This Hour has proposed the first and very sensible petition.
To change Stockwell's first name to Doris.
