I teach in an MCSE program and have students from a wide range of backgrounds. I, like a lot of other people, have a bit of an entrepreneurial spirit. So, when an opportunity to buy a small private business - a filipino karaoke bar - recently arose I asked one of my students for some help and advice. He has a long history of working in bars, and seems to know that business quite well.

The following exchange took place:

Me: Do you want to take a look at the place sometime this week?

He: Sure, but I'm a little bit afraid of going in there by myself.

Me: I'll come along with you.

He: Good.

Me: You know, they'll probably assume that we're gay lovers.

Another student: That's better than if they figure you're there for the karaoke!
