During the recent foofrah with the woodpecker and the shuttle, the director
of the center decided on a simple plan to get rid of the pest.  He went down
to the local Wal-Mart and bought several plastic owls (paying with his own
credit card).  They were mounted in various places, hoping to scare away
the woodpecker.  The only result was a hole pecked in one of them.
