A manager in my lab was transferred here to Silicon Valley from the Boston area shortly before the Oct. 17 earthquake. The rumor currently going around his old office is that he lost six dishes in the earthquake: one fell off his shelf and five were thrown by his wife during the fight about whether they were moving back to Boston. -- Claudia Zornow
