True Story:

A friend of mine was conned into joining the local choir by some of her other friends. She went to the audition with about a hundred other people. She was pretty shy, so she didn't want to audition in front of everyone else, so she asked one the judges if she could audition off in a corner. The judge agreed and so they went off to the side and he asked asked her what she wanted to sing. She said she didn't know all the words for very many songs, so would Happy Birthday be OK? The judge agreed and started playing it quietly on the piano.

By the end of the first line the whole auditorium had quieted down and was staring at her singing, and by the end of the second line everyone had joined in, to her immense embarrassment.
