Speaking on Robocars

Speaking on Robocars

I've given keynote talks on the future of self-driving at over 100 events in over 30 countries. I've done that by delivering on 3 key pillars:

  1. Quality of talks, with good content, easy to understand for all audiences (though technical if desired) and humour to enterain and bring the message home
  2. A robocar resume which includes being on Waymo (Google Car's) early team as well as that of Starship Delivery robots, and advising the CEOs of companies like Cruise and Zoox on their founding, the CEOs of major auto OEMs and many others.
  3. A history of many hundreds of articles on the topic for my own site and the Forbes site, a variety of YouTube videos, and a readership that includes the top executives and team members of all major self-driving companies.
  4. The ability to go deep on almost every topic in interactive Q&A, with humour and engagement.

I'm also ready to provoke and defy conventional wisdom, getting people ready to think. I love a good debate if you have a suitable counter-speaker. I can lead off your conference or cap it, and can also give multiple talks on different topics. For general conferences, I also have a large repertoire of other futurist talks from my history as track chair of computing for Singularity University, a futurist think-tank which I helped build.

There's almost no topic in self-driving and the future transportation I would not be able to deliver on, but here are some I have done:

  • The general introduction of why self-driving is so important, who is doing it and why, and how the world will change.
  • Energy consequences (I also write and speak on electrification.)
  • Issues for Auto Insurance
  • The future of cities and public transit
  • Ethics and morals of self-driving
  • Top myths about self-driving, even among industry insiders -- debunking ideas like the "levels," "V2V" and many others
  • San Francisco vs. The Machines -- the battle between the world's first robotaxi city and Cruise/Waymo, which led to Cruise being removed from the streets
  • Real estate consequences of robocars
  • Delivery robots and minimobility and the small end of transportation
  • e-VTOL "flying cars"
  • Everything about Tesla and their self-driving attempts
  • Mapping for self-driving
